Guidelines for Abstract Submission

Extended abstracts should be submitted under the following discipline headings:

  1. Arts and Law
  2. College of Medical Sciences
  3. Education/Institute of Education
  4. Life Sciences/Agricultural Sciences/Veterinary Medicine
  5. Management Sciences/Social Sciences/IPAES
  6. Pharmacy
  7. 7.Physical Sciences/Engineering/Environmental Sciences

The extended abstracts should be prepared using the following sub-headings:

  • Title
  • Author(s)’ name(s)
  • Author(s)’Affiliation(s)
  • Abstract – single paragraph, single line spacing, maximum of 150 words
  • Keywords (3 to 5 Keywords)
  • Background
  • Aim/Objectives
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion(s)
  • Acknowledgements
  • References

The entire extended abstract should not exceed four pages.

  • Concise and informative abstract titles should be used. Abbreviations should not be included in the title.
  • If acronyms and abbreviations are used within the abstract, their meaning should be written in full the first time, with the acronym/abbreviation written in brackets.
  • SI Units and other discipline-related terms should be used consistently.
  • Scientific and non-English names should be in Italics.
  • Chemical formula, equations, and other special terminologies/characters should be written appropriately.
  • In-text citations and list of references should be written using the Harvard style.
    • Examples of in-text citations – Omoruyi, 2023; Omoruyi and Ajayi, 2023; Omoruyi et al., 2023.
    • Examples of Harvard reference styles - Author surname, initial. (Year). Article title. Journal Name, Volume (Issue), pp. page range.

FONT SPECIFICATIONS

Title: Initial capital letters should be used for each word, Bold, and Centralized. Times New Roman, 12 points
Author(s) name(s): Surname, INITIALS. Times New Roman, 10 points, Bold, Centralized
Affiliations:

  • Affiliations should be indicated with superscript Arabic numbers appearing at the end of surname.
  • A superscript asterisk should be added for the corresponding author.
  • If there is more than one name and address, they should be related by superscript numbers.
  • Times New Roman, 10 points, fully justified.
  • Body: Times New Roman, 10 points; single line spacing, and fully justified

Notification of Abstract Review Decision by October 23, 2023
Deadline for Submission of Revised Abstracts - October 27, 2023

WORKSHOP DATES AND VENUE

Date – November 8 – 9, 2023.

Time – 9.00 am daily.

Venue – Senate Chambers, University of Benin.

Accommodation is available at affordable rates at the University Guest House and nearby hotels; participants are required to make prior arrangements for accommodation
