Nigeria as part of the global community has witness advancement in Information Computer Technology (ICT) associated with limitless benefit for individuals, governance, businesses, commerce and industry. The advent of these advancements in information accessibility and application of the internet concomitantly came with unintended consequences. While the technology bought about enormous gain in efficiency, productivity and communication, they also create vulnerability to those who wish to take advantage of the new medium. The consequences of these computer crime that is defined as cyber-crime led to unauthorized access, illegal interception, data interference (unauthorized damaging, deletion, deterioration, alteration or suppression of computer data), system interference, misuse of devices, forgery and electronic fraud. This paper attempts to provide an overview of the use of digital forensic as a tool to combat this new vices, it also raise the awareness and the need to implement a digital forensic Act or Law to enable commerce industry conduct regular audit of their facilities and held liable in a case where facility is not security enough for customer transaction. This paper also recommends the introduction of digital forensics in Nigeria territory institutions.
